Start with the selling price, subtract any trade-in, and apply the 6.25% Texas motor vehicle sales tax to that amount and to the documentary fee. Add the documentary fee ($225 at most Texas dealers) and title and registration (about $201). That total is the out-the-door price. Dealers also pass through a small vehicle inventory tax, under a tenth of a percent.

What is the doc fee and is it negotiable?

The documentary fee covers the paperwork of the sale. In Texas it is set by the dealer, charged to every customer the same, and taxed like the car. At David McDavid Honda of Frisco it is $225.

Can I get a specific car's numbers?

Send me the estimate with the model and trim you picked, or a stock number from the dealership site, and I will reply with the exact figures for that car.
